The story
Beckenbauer captained West Germany to the 1974 World Cup and then coached them to the 1990 title — only the second man (after Zagallo) to win as both player and coach. He was also a 3× European Cup winner with Bayern in the mid-1970s. Italian-British-French-German football all consider him one of the 5 best players ever.
