Coaching approach
"Menottismo" — attacking, ball-playing football. Politically a left-wing intellectual, in stark contrast to the right-wing military junta he worked under.
The story
Menotti won the World Cup at home in 1978 under the shadow of the Argentine military junta — a result still politically debated. He coached Barcelona during Maradona's spell and managed multiple Argentine and European clubs. His attacking philosophy ("the right side of football") was a counterpoint to Bilardo's pragmatism.
