Puskás' Mighty Magyars went into the 1954 World Cup unbeaten for four years and lost the final 3-2 to West Germany — the "Miracle of Bern". After defecting in 1956 he joined Real Madrid and scored four in the 1960 European Cup final. The FIFA Puskás Award for best goal carries his name.
