The story
Deschamps captained France to the 1998 World Cup at home and to the 2000 Euro, then coached them to the 2018 World Cup and to the 2022 final (lost to Argentina on penalties). He is the third man to win the World Cup as both player and coach (with Zagallo and Beckenbauer). France's second WC title and the gold standard of modern tournament management.
