The story

Brazil is the most successful World Cup nation with five titles and a unique record: they are the only team to have played in every single World Cup since 1930. The dynasty has three distinct eras. The Pelé-Garrincha-Didi years (1958, 1962, 1970) defined attacking football and made Brazil shorthand for "joga bonito." The 1994 win in the United States, with Romário leading the line, broke a 24-year drought and was the first WC final decided on penalties. The 2002 squad with Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho remains the gold standard for talent density. The 7-1 semi-final loss to Germany at home in 2014 is the most painful chapter; Brazil have not reached a final since.
